<i>Analysis:</i> What's Next After Osama Bin Laden
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – What's next in the war on terror.
Katherine Warrick, the Villanova professor with a specialty with the Arab world sees Arab nations enthusiastic over the end of Bin Laden.
"One thing that's important to notice that a lot of Arabs are glad to see him gone as well. He was not a popular figure in the Arab world any longer. His popularity ratings were at an all time low. There's mixed opinion and I'm not sure this is going to increase support for American foreign policy among the Arabs but the separate issue of respect for Bin Laden, no a lot of people are very glad to see him go."
Dr. Steven Gale of the Foreign Policy Research institute applauds the taking out of Bin Laden. But Gale, steeped heavily in foreign intelligence, says the problem from Al Qaeda is still there.
"I don't believe that Bin Laden personally in what he has done has been a real winner in the Arab world as a whole. But the changes that he has begun to institute, the realization that there's a need to defend Islam is now very important whether they liked him or not".
