Amtrak Back On Schedule After Three Days Of Power Problems
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - Amtrak is back up and running on a normal schedule this morning after three straight days of delays because of low-voltage along the Northeast Corridor.
Travelers were stranded between Philadelphia and New York City, and the problem spilled over onto SEPTA's Trenton and Chestnut Hill West lines yesterday morning.
Amtrak issued a statement last night saying the power failures were due to computer and backup computer systems that control the converters that provide power. They brought in an expert from the west coast to look into the problem.
Amtrak, SEPTA and New Jersey Transit trains are running on or close to schedule.
