UPDATE: Amtrak Northeast Corridor Service Restored Between Philadelphia And Washington
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Amtrak Acela Express and Northeast Regional service has been restored between Philadelphia and Washington Monday night.
Amtrak says residual delays can be expected as crews work to clear heavy congestion caused by earlier problems with the overhead electrical system around Wilmington, Delaware.
Service was suspended for over three hours as crews worked to make the repairs necessary to safely resume operations.
Passengers planning to travel on Tuesday are encouraged to check train status on Amtrak.com, our smartphone apps or by calling 1-800-USA-RAIL.
Amtrak says passengers who have paid but choose not to travel due to this service disruption can receive a refund or a voucher for future travel.
