Amtrak, New Jersey Transit Rail Service Restored, Delays Remain
UNIVERSITY CITY, Pa. (CBS) - Amtrak trains are running again between Philadelphia and New York City, with minor to moderate delays.
This morning's service suspension was caused by an overhead power problem stemming from a transformer fire in New Brunswick. It idled about a dozen Amtrak trains.
By about 6:15 a.m. those trains were running again, but the big problem was with trains to Washington, D.C. Trains Departing New York City for D.C. and stopping in Philadelphia were running as much as an hour and a half behind schedule.
Riders are asked to check Amtrak, and New Jersey Transit websites for updates. NJ Transit says it will honor all rail tickets on NJ Transit buses, private carrier buses and PATH trains.
Check the CBS Philly Traffic page for up-to-date traffic and transit information.
