Southwest Philadelphia Apartment Building Evacuated Due To Strange Smell
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - A four-story apartment building in Southwest Philadelphia was evacuated Saturday afternoon after residents reported a strange smell coming from the basement.
A little before 2 p.m., firefighters and a hazmat team were called out to the building in the 4700 block of Chester Avenue.
Twenty-five adults and five children were safely evacuated, according to police.
SEPTA's Route 13 trolley was diverted to Woodland Avenue due to investigation.
Authorities are trying to determine the cause of the odor.
