Amid Rising Tide of Violence, Camden's Mayor Meets With NJ Attorney General

CAMDEN, N.J. (CBS) -- New Jersey's attorney general was in Camden today for a private meeting with the mayor.
Camden Mayor Dana Redd says she requested the closed-door meeting with attorney general Paula Dow to address the city's issues with violence.
"It is an ongoing discussion," Redd told KYW Newsradio, "so today's meeting was an assessment of some of the situations that we're being confronted with. And she's going to report back to the front office, which is the governor's office."
What was discussed?
"I'm not going to go into details at this point," Redd responded, "other than just giving a thorough overview of some of the crime trends in the City of Camden and also to seek assistance where we may get assistance from the state."
With 16 murders in that city over the past two months, one city councilmember has called for the help of the National Guard, but Redd would not confirm whether or not requests for the help of the National Guard were discussed.
