Americans With Disabilities Act Turns 22
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – The National Constitution Center celebrated the 22nd anniversary of the signing of the Americans with Disabilities Act.
"So the Americans with Disabilities Act is an act to have persons with disabilities not be discriminated against," says Kathleen Cohen with the NCC. She adds the museum has acquired an artifact from one of the ADA's most important advocates.
"We have certain artifacts that represent moments in history, like the saxophone from Bill Clinton, the robe from Sandra Day O'Connor, so now included in that is the actual wheelchair to Justin Dart."
Who was Justin Dart?
"He's symbolic for many people I the disability rights movement, who was able to get the ADA signed and passed into law."
