American Sniper Co-Star: 'Bradley Cooper Wore Eagles Hat In Character'

By Andrew Porter

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) --- We sure don't need to be convinced that Bradley Cooper is a genuine Eagles fan.

But in case you need reinforcement, here's American Sniper co-star Kevin Lacz.

"The first time I met him he showed up in character as Chris Kyle and he definitely was wearing his Eagles hat," Lacz told Michael Barkann and Ike Reese Tuesday on the 94WIP Mike & Ike Show.

Listen to Kevin Lacz on the 94WIP Mike & Ike Show:

Unfortunately, Cooper may have also---accidentally---helped a rival team win Super Bowl XLIX.

"Did you guys know that Bradley indirectly helped the Patriots win the Super Bowl?" Lacz, who was born and raised in central Connecticut, asked. "Bill Belichick definitely went on and showed the movie to the team before the AFC Championship team and the guys were really moved by the film and his performance of Chris Kyle and all that stuff. Being a New Englander, I think they went on to greatness."

Lacz, a former Navy SEAL who was close to Chris Kyle, played himself in the Academy-Award nominated film thanks to Cooper. Cooper suggested the idea while Lacz was helping the Philly-born movie star train for the role of Kyle.

Cooper, 40, is up for an Academy-Award for his brilliant performance, which Lacz praised.

"He's an incredible actor and his ability to do that character study and learn as much as he could about Chris, take it all in and portray it---not try to mimic Chris, but portray---he comes across as a larger than life individual which was Chris," Lacz said. "And like you said, you lose sight of the fact that's it's Bradley Cooper and you just identify as Chris and that's important in the portrayal. It's that validation for Chris that the right guy played that part."
