Allentown Woman Charged In Alleged Kill-For-Hire Scheme Gone Wrong
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - An Allentown, Pa. woman has been indicted by a federal grand jury in Philadelphia on charges that she hired and paid a hitman to kill her former boyfriend's new girlfriend.
But authorities say it did not go as planned.
The grand jury alleges that Marissa Mark, 28, wanted the other woman to be shot in the head and killed, and took steps to make it happen.
"Ms. Mark, through a web site she found called hitmanforhire.net, contacted a hitman and hired that hitman to kill the new girlfreind of her ex-boyfriend," says Philadelphia prosecutor Arlene Fisk.
Authorities allege that the hitman, Essam Ahmed Eid (right), who sometimes went by the alias "Tony Luciano," got $19,000 from Mark and a promise of more after the job was done, then went to California where he allegedly tried to extort money from the intended victim to call off the hit.
Eid has been charged in California, but authorities say the case waits because he is in custody in Ireland for a similar scheme.
