Allen Scores 21 As Drexel Tops Rutgers 70-59
PISCATAWAY, N.J. (AP) — Tavon Allen scored 16 of his 21 points in the second half to lead Drexel to a 70-59 win over Rutgers in an NIT Season Tip-Off North Regional quarterfinal game Tuesday night.
Damion Lee added 15 for the Dragons (3-1), who play the winner of Tuesday night's Rhode Island-Arizona game in a semifinal at Madison Square Garden on Nov. 27. Frantz Massenat had 12 points and seven assists, while Drexel leading scorer Chris Fouch, saddled with foul trouble much of the game, added 10.
The Scarlet Knights (3-2), who will host two consolation games on Monday and Tuesday, got 13 points and 10 rebounds from Kadeem Jack, who got his second straight double-double. D'Von Campbell added 12 points and J.J. Moore added 10.
With Drexel holding a 48-44 lead, Allen scored nine straight points to put Drexel up 57-44 with 5:13 remaining. The Dragons opened their biggest lead at 70-55.
