Allen Iverson Named 2016 NBA Hall Of Fame Finalist

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Allen Iverson has been named a 2016 finalist for the NBA's Hall Of Fame.

Iverson, 40, headlines the finalist list along with Shaquille O'Neal.

Iverson ranks 23rd in NBA history with 24,368 points, made 11 all-star appearances (two-time MVP), was 2001 NBA MVP, and reached the NBA Finals during the 2000-01 season.

A.I. is one of the most electrifying and polarizing athletes in Philadelphia sports history.

Tom Izzo, Kevin Johnson, Chester native Bo Ryan, Sheryl Swoopes, and Yao Ming are among the 2016 NBA Hall Of Fame finalists as well.

A committee of 24 Hall of Famers and media members will vote on the finalists, while 18-plus votes will get you in. Inductees will be announced on April 4th, 2016 at the NCAA's Final Four.
