After Tackling Niagra Falls, Tightrope Walker Heads For Atlantic City

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - Cranes are being set up in Atlantic City for a free high wire act that in one respect will top Nik Wallenda's walk across Niagara Falls.
Nik Wallenda and clan begin performing in the Tropicana on August 12th, so to whip up a little excitement he'll go for a stroll Thursday at 3 p.m., 150 feet off the ground.
Tony Rodio, President and CEO of Tropicana Entertainment, describes it, "He's going to be walking from one crane to another. It's about 1500 feet. It's going to take about 26-27 minutes to complete. It's going to start at the Atlantic Club and walk here toward the Tropicana, and the difference between this one and the walk over (Niagra Falls) is he will not be tethered. He'll be walking totally free."
Rodio says Wallenda actually objected to being tethered for the Niagara Falls stunt because he felt it increased his risk, rather than making him safer. Rodio says the wind along the shore is a concern but that Wallenda is a consumate planner and will wow the crowd.
