After A Warm Day, Temperatures Begin Cooling Down Again

By Justin Drabick

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) --
After finishing the month of November almost 2.5 degrees below average, December starts off well above average, with high temperatures in the 60s and even some 70s.

Today's temperatures were typical for late October and set a new record at Atlantic City at 72 degrees. However, the rollercoaster ride of temperatures continues as a cold front passes through the region tonight.

The front will bring some showers around tonight with much colder overnight lows in the 30s. The front will then linger off the coast on Tuesday, bringing another round of some light rain to the region on Tuesday. With high temperatures in the 30s to near 40, some of the rain may mix with some snow & sleet, especially north of the city. A slushy coating to an inch is possible from the Lehigh Valley through the Poconos.

Drier conditions return for Wednesday and Thursday with high temperatures in the low 50s on Wednesday and upper 40s on Thursday. The active weather pattern will continue with more showers returning to the forecast for the end of the week into the weekend.
