Advice For Job-Hunting Down The Shore
By Michelle Durham
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - Today is the first day of Spring and folks will be flocking down to Jersey Shore towns in the coming weeks to apply for thousands of seasonal jobs.
For the tens of thousands who visit the Jersey Shore each summer for vacation, they welcome the respite from the pressure of work, but there are thousands more who head to the beach to find a job.
And, if you're one of those seasonal job-seekers, Temple University career counselor Rachel Brown says you have to prepare, "bring their 'A game' to every part of the application process. (Make sure that there are) no typos on resumes, that there is a targeted cover letter that goes along with it."
President of the Sea Isle City Chamber of Commerce Chris Glancey owns two businesses himself.
"The most important thing for us is that people show up. Ninety of the job is showing up. After that is personality; make sure they are happy and treat the customers right when they are here."
Glancey says the tremendous growth in Sea Isle over the past few years means there are thousands of seasonal jobs available there. He says first impressions count, so be appropriately dressed and upbeat when you apply.
