Accident Shuts Down NB Northeast Extension Near Quakertown
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- The Pennsylvania Turnpike Northeast Extension has reopened to traffic after an earlier accident forced the closure of all northbound lanes near Quakertown.
The crash happened around 11 a.m. Saturday about five miles north of the Quakertown exit (Exit 44).
Police say a jackknifed tanker truck struck the median, knocking part of it into the southbound lanes.
As a result, all northbound lanes were blocked and only the right lane was getting by in the southbound direction.
Northbound, all traffic was being forced off the Northeast Extension at Quakertown.
After several hours, the accident was cleared and traffic began moving again with a residual delay.
