Abington Police Nab Two After High-Speed Chase
Abington, Pa. (CBS) -- Two Philadelphia men are under arrest in Abington, Pa., where they face charges in connection with four burglaries in three communities, but police say they could be part of a suburban home burglary ring.
The two men, identified as 62-year-old William Perkins and 46-year-old John Wilson, were taken into custody after leading Abington police on a high-speed chase into Northeast Philadelphia, sideswiping one car and hitting another with their white pickup.
Abington deputy police chief John Livingood says the charges stem from a recent crime spree in Abington, Cheltenham and Philadelphia, but there may be more:
"We will continue to investigate this thing to determine if they are involved in a number of burglaries including many which were done in the same fashion, in these same areas and in some of which a white pickup truck was seen."
Police recovered jewelry which was tossed from the truck during the chase. A search warrant executed at their homes also turned up other stolen items. The charges include burglary and resisting arrest.
Reported by KYW Suburban Bureau Chief Brad Segall.
