A Week After Sandy, Crews Still Working To Restore Power

HATBORO, Pa. (CBS) -- On Pleasant Hill Road in Hatboro, PECO crews are working as hard as the generators. It is day seven here without power.
"They're telling me this afternoon, tonight, or tomorrow," shrugs Edward Otto, who lost power on the Sunday afternoon before Hurricane Sandy.
Otto has spent every night here. His home uses a well, which means he has not had heat, power or water.
"We've been without heat for all these days – water, everything -- so we're just dealing with is and making the best of it," Otto says.
The outages across Montgomery and Bucks Counties are spotty and localized -- fallen trees knocking down power to a dozen homes here and there. But each downed line takes hours to fix.
John Lawing stocked up on firewood in Hatboro, heating his home while the temperature dropped near freezing. He got power back Monday afternoon.
"It had gotten down to the low 50s inside the house. Fortunately, we have a fireplace that we've kept going," says Lawing.
But in places like Yardley in Bucks County, patience has turned into frustration.
"My wife is very, very even-tempered," says Jim Bray, "and even this morning, she'd just about had it. She hit a wall."
Crews have restored power to most homes in the area, but for the final few, cold nights have made the last few days the hardest.
