A Walk For Peace On Broad Street In Philadelphia Saturday

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - A walk for peace is being held through center city Saturday to raise public awareness about young victims of crime.

The Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts is hosting Walk for Peace: Walk for Lost Dreams, a mile-walk through Center City Saturday afternoon. The walk supports a program at PAFA in which artists, many of them students and alumni of the Academy, donate their time and talents to paint portraits of young victims of crime.

Judy Ringgold is PAFA's director of Museum Education.

"When the families see the paintings for the first time, it really brings them back a little bit and they really appreciate getting these portraits."

Walkers will be asked to donate a minimum of $10 at registration at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at the Academy at 118 North Broad Street.
