Column: A Special Voice On Homeland Security
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- The events of even the last few days reinforce that terrorism and particularly attacks on the homeland will be the biggest issue in the 2016 presidential race. That's one of the reasons I'm bringing, Chairman of the House Homeland Security Committee, to the Constitution Center on January 27th at 7 p.m. to kickoff our 1210 Speaker Series. McCaul 's new book "Failures of Imagination" is a great read outlining the deadliest threats to our homeland and the best ways to thwart them.
McCaul is privy to the best and latest information on the threats we face and he is very blunt at speaking about the information he has. In the book, he lays out threats like an attack on the U.S Capitol in order to decapitate Congress, Hezbollah bringing in a nuke across our Southern border, a cyberstrike on New York's financial centers, a bioterror strike at Disney World and a new Cold War with Putin.
The book is a thrilling ride with Mc Caul interjecting intelligence insights that are eye-opening. He imaginatively sketches out scenarios that we need to consider so we don't repeat the mistakes that opened us up for the attacks on 9/11.
McCaul and others like Rudy Giuliani and former CIA Director Michael Hayden call the book a call to action. I agree and I'd love to have you with me on January 27th. I'll interview McCaul, we'll take your questions, and he'll sign your book at the end of the event.
