A Season Of Transition For Union
By Matt Leon
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – After making the playoffs for their first time in their brief history last season, expectations were high for the 2012 Philadelphia Union. To this point, however, they have fallen short of those expectations as they sit ninth in the ten-team Eastern Conference with a 2-7-2 mark.
The Union have also garnered a lot of attention for the controversial deals that have sent popular players like Sébastien Le Toux, Danny Califf and Danny Mwanga packing.
On the bright side, Philadelphia has won its first two matches in U.S. Open Cup play and they will host Harrisburg in the quarterfinals of that later this month.
KYW's Matt Leon spoke with Kerith Gabriel, Union beat writer for the Philadelphia Daily News, about which direction the arrow is pointing for this squad.
