A Reasonable Dose Of Worry
By Dr. Brian McDonough, Medical Editor
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - We are a nation of worry warts… we worry about our families, our money, our futures. We even worry about how much we worry.
Numerous studies have shown too much worry is not good for us. The stress of worry can increase our blood pressure, the risk of heart disease, even cancer.
One of the most subjects of worry is our health and we worry about our health, despite the fact it is bad for our health.
A recent study found that 37% of people worried about cancer as their top health concern, 14% heart disease, 13% obesity, 11% terrorism.
Worry is not always bad as long as it is reasonable. In those cases it makes sense to prepare for problems.
