A New Popular Walking Tour Hits Center City
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - Walking around in the heat of summer could make one thirsty. But now there is a popular center city walking tour that incorporates art and ale into its route.
The Philadelphia Mural Arts Program's Art and Ale Walking Adventure begins in the 1100 block of Filbert Street. Members of the group then walk to iconic murals and along the way make pit stops at watering holes for a beverage including Philadelphia's oldest tavern, McGillin's.
Ryan Derfler is the director of business development for the mural arts program, "You'll see about a dozen murals intermixed with stops at pubs. Somebody asked me if you still do this during this heat wave? And I say absolutely. We have been doing the tour and maybe we hurry a little bit quicker to that beer stop."
There is another tour involving beer - The Ale & Arts Trolley Adventure. It begins at World Cafe Live then makes a stop at a local a brewery for a tasting and a mural tour.
