A Lecture On Healing Gardens
By Phran Novelli
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - "A garden is more than just a pretty space; what you plant and how you plant it can affect the mind, body, and spirit," says Jenny Rose Carey, Director of the Ambler Arboretum of Temple University, and she'll show and tell you all about healing gardens in a free lecture this Sunday afternoon.
Learn the design elements of gardens that help you rest, refresh, and restore yourself - even just the photographs you'll see of healing gardens around the world will be relaxing.
Healing gardens date back thousands of years, as ancient scholars worldwide wrote of the curing power of plants. And many medicinal plants are native to our area, and grow in the Ambler Arboretum's own Ernesta Ballard Healing Garden where color, texture and aromas combine to appeal to all of your senses in soothing ways.
This lecture is free and you don't even need to sign up in advance, you can just get up on Sunday and decide to go to the 2 pm talk at the Learning Center Auditorium on the Temple University Ambler campus.
Here's how to get there by car or public transportation:
