A Holiday Start For Halladay
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Roy Halladay will try to continue his dominance over the Washington Nationals when the Philadelphia Phillies open a three-game series in DC on Memorial Day.
Since joining the Phillies last season, Halladay has owned the Nationals, going 5-0 with a 1.15 ERA in five starts.
The holiday matinée will mark Halladay's 12th start of the season and his 45th overall as a member of the Phillies. It also comes just one year and one day removed from his unforgettable perfect game against the Marlins down in Florida.
Halladay is 6-3 this season with a 2.35 ERA. He leads the team in innings pitched (84.1). A victory against the Nationals and he would equal Cole Hamels for the club lead in wins.
In his last outing against the Cincinnati Reds, Halladay pitched to a no decision, allowing three runs in seven innings. The game was eventually won by the Phillies in 19 innings.
Halladay will be opposed by veteran right-hander Livan Hernandez.
