A Healthy Plan For Summer
By Dr. Brian McDonough, Medical Editor
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - Memorial Day has crept up fairly quickly this year - not that I am complaining. The summer months can be a relaxing time and Memorial Day is our first opportunity to realize that we have the chance to change our lifestyle and make differences.
I find it interesting that New Years Day is the time of year we make our resolutions. My suggestion is to use this time of year to make a resolution to exercise and watch your diet.
The reason that I say this is because it is a much more realistic time to do this. We have an opportunity to take advantage of the long days and warm weather. In January, it is cold and somewhat foreboding.
My other suggestion is to be realistic about your goals. If you want to succeed at an exercise and lifestyle plan it is important to stay realistic. Many of us shoot too high and can't hit our expectations.
