A Flash Flood Watch For Friday

By Kathy Orr

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) --  Our long awaited storm is finally upon us.  Showers will arrive between 4 a.m. and 10 a.m.

The rain will be heaviest between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m., and end from west to east between 4 p.m. and 8 p.m.

Our computer guidance has been consistent, suggesting that the heaviest rain will be north and west of Philadelphia.  In Philadelphia and its suburbs we are forecasting 1-2" of rain.

There will be locally higher amounts up to 3" possible, especially in areas west of Philadelphia.

Our Flash Flood Guidance indicates that flooding is likely to begin with only 2 inches of rain, so we expect some flooding in poor drainage areas.  We will also be watching area streams and creeks throughout the day.

The wind will pick up as well, gusting to 30 mile-an-hour.

After the storm, conditions will improve for the weekend.

It will be cool and dry Saturday and Sunday, with highs around 70 degrees.

Monday will be cool with a high of 69 degrees.

After that, we begin a warming trend through the 70s.

Stay Dry!

Kathy
