A Deadly Heart Condition

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - Researchers at Johns Hopkins University have taken a close look at a condition called arrhythmogenic right ventricular dysplasia/cardiomyopathy and have found that those who have it are at greater risk of developing life-threatening and sometimes deadly heart rhythms.
These people are particularly prone if they participate in endurance sports.
The condition is found in otherewise healthy people and, according to the Hopkins researchers, its prevalence is one in 5000 people.
The Hopkins researchers say that they have associated the condition with a genetic mutation.
