$99 Allentown-to-Orlando Airline Service Set To Begin This Spring

ALLENTOWN, Pa. (CBS) -- Delaware Valley residents heading to Florida will soon have another, less expensive option for air travel -- if they don't mind driving to the Allentown area.
Officials at Lehigh Valley International Airport say Frontier Airlines is moving in and will start twice-a-week service to Orlando in late May.
Frontier will fly there on Tuesdays and Saturdays, with an introductory price of just $90 each way if you book before mid-March. After that it will be $99 each way.
Charles Everett, executive director of the Lehigh Northampton Airport Authority, says Frontier has been looking at their airport for several years.
"We have reapproached them and wanted to make sure they understood that Orlando is our number one destination," he tells KYW Newsradio. "In fact, on an annual basis, 100,000 people from the Lehigh Valley travel to Orlando."
The announcement is good news because the airport is expected to lose AirTran Airways in August. If business does well, Frontier says, it hopes to expand.
