$8K Stolen During Parkwood Home Invasion, Sexual Assault
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - Police are searching for a suspect in connection to a home invasion robbery and violent sexual assault inside a Northeast Philadelphia home Tuesday.
The incident happened at about 3:30 p.m. inside a home in the 3200 block of Lester Road in the city's Parkwood section.
Investigators say the incident began when the suspect, armed with a gun, knocked on the door and forced his way inside. The 39-year-old female victim was home alone at the time.
The suspect bound the victim by her hands and feet before beating and sexually assaulting her.
Investigators believe the victim may have been targeted. Neighbors say the victim and her husband own a nail salon in Kensington.
The couple apparently speaks limited English, but they have two school-aged daughters who help them interpret.
Investigators believe the suspect may have been following the couple, learning their habits.
Neighbors told Eyewitness News that moments before the attack, the victim's husband left the house to pick up their daughters from school.
The armed suspect stole approximately $8,000 and three laptops before fleeing the home.
The suspect is described as a black male in his 30s, approximately 6'2" and 240 lbs. He had a slight mustache and goatee. He was last seen wearing dark clothing and a backpack.
The victim was taken to an area hospital for treatment. Her injuries are not considered life-threatening.
