7 pumpkin patches to visit in Philadelphia region this fall
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Is it just us or did September fly by? Fall is in full swing and there are so many fun activities to partake in during this transitional season.
It already feels as if fall is moving as quickly as summer did, so you need to get a jump on the fall fun ASAP.
Pumpkin and picking, warm apple cider, s'mores making, and please don't forget the apple cider donuts -- we can eat those by the dozen. These are just a few of our favorite things to do in autumn, there are so many local farms waiting for you to visit.
Here is a list of seven pumpkin patches in the Philadelphia region:
1. Linvilla Orchards
Where: Located about 45 minutes from Philadelphia in Media, Linvilla Orchards is open year-round, but in mid-September, Pumpkinland returns. Apple picking, hayrides, and finding the perfect pumpkin, are just a few of the family-friendly activities Linvilla offers. 2. Shady Brook Farm
Where: Located in Bucks County about 20 miles from Philadelphia, Shady Brook Farm has tons of fall activities. Their FallFest offers live music on the weekends, corn mazes, campfires and other family-friendly activities. They also have pick-your-own apples and pumpkins. Plus, if you're looking for a sweet treat, make sure to grab an apple cider donut ice cream sandwich.
3. Merrymead Farm
Where: What is better than pumpkin-picking while eating a fresh hot apple cider donut? Pairing it with some homemade ice cream. At Merrymead Farm in Lansdale, they offer everyone's favorite fall activities, plus they have a creamery. Be sure to check out their 5-acre corn maze, which is also open once the sun goes down, just be sure to bring a flashlight!
4. Hellerick Farm
Where: Located in Doylestown, Pennsylvania, this local pumpkin patch offers more than 15 activities and attractions for children to participate in. From corn mazes to tractor rides and fun props for family photos, Hellerick Farm is the perfect place to spend a fall afternoon. For guests 12 and older, they also have goat yoga. It's $27 per person and the class is held on Friday nights at 6 p.m. and Saturdays and Sundays at 9 a.m.
5. Johnson's Corner Farm
Where: For anyone looking for some fall fun over the bridge in New Jersey, Johnson's Corner Farm in Medford's Fall Harvest runs through Oct. 31. They have wagon rides to orchard fields, live music, a festival food tent, farm animals and more. Be sure to reserve your ticket in advance online.
6. Duffield's Farm Market
Where: Also over the bridge in New Jersey is Duffield's Farm Market. It's located in Sewell and is featuring a special family fun night on Friday, October 14. There will be hayrides, corn mazes by flashlights, a DJ, carnival games, food, and plenty of other activities that scream a night of family fun. Click here for more details.
7. Cherry Crest Adventure Farm
Where: If you are willing to travel a little further for some family fun, we highly recommend spending a day at Cherry Crest Adventure Farm in Lancaster, Pennsylvania. There is so much to do out in Lancaster that you could even make a weekend trip out of it. From the children's attractions to the winery and breweries, there is truly something for all ages at this farm. They offer pick-your-own pumpkins, sunflowers, and popcorn.
