Rain Is A Welcome Sight For Farmers In New Jersey

WASHINGTON Twp., NJ (CBS) – Recent rain and more in the forecast is a welcome sight to farmers after the entire month of May produced barely more than one inch of rain in the Delaware Valley.
"We'll take it as it comes and we do the best we can. We're blessed to have the rain that we have now," says David Duffield from Duffield's Farm in Washington Township.
The shortage of rain in May caused their farm to rely on irrigation which can get expensive.
"There's a cost to wear and tear of equipment, cost for irrigating, pumping, electric, and fuel depending on what you use," says Duffield.
New Jersey's famous sweet corn is just about to start hitting the produce stands and moving forward this summer Duffield says the best case scenario for weather is hot with regular rain.
