5 Injured In Delaware Carnival Ride Accident
MIDDLETOWN, Del. (AP) - Delaware State Police say the state fire marshal's office will lead the investigation into a carnival ride malfunction that injured five.
Three adults and two children suffered minor injuries in the accident Saturday night at Frightland, a seasonal Halloween attraction. Port Penn Fire Chief Frank Schoeffler said the five were taken to Christiana Hospital.
Fire officials said a section of the Merry Mixer ride came loose about 8:45 p.m. and flipped over.
Frightland manager Deb Hall said the park has not had any serious problems with rides in its 14-year history. Hall said the rides are operated by an independent company and are inspected for safety daily. Two other rides continued to operate after the accident.
