Top 5 Coaches/Managers In Philly Sports History
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Thanks to yet another Philadelphia Eagles' coaching search, it got us thinking.
Who is the best coach in Philadelphia sports history? Here are the top five.
5. Charlie Manuel
I know what you're thinking: Why only No. 5? Because frankly, those Phillies teams were amazing and Manuel probably should have won more than one World Series. But he won one, and that's pretty rare around these parts.
Charlie Manuel is an amazing, world-class person and a really solid -- but not outstanding -- manager, who won a World Series.
4. Herb Magee
I don't care where you do it, if you win 1,000 games you're a legend and you deserve to be on this list.
3. Dick Vermeil
Vermeil was the 1980 Coach of the Year with the Birds, leading them to Super Bowl XV. Unfortunately they lost, but Vermeil's passion and emotion is undeniable. Best crier in Philly sports history, without a doubt.
2. Billy Cunningham
Cunningham reached 200, 300, and 400 wins faster than any coach in NBA history, led the 76ers to the playoffs in every year head coached, reached the Finals three times, and won it in 1983.
1. Fred Shero
"Win today and we walk together forever."
What a quote. Two Stanley Cup Championships, what else matters?
