Gunfire Throughout Philadelphia Leaves 3 Dead, 6 Injured
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- A rash of gunfire throughout Philadelphia overnight and early Sunday morning left three people dead and six others wounded.
First, in the Graduate Hospital neighborhood, police say a 28-year-old man was killed and three others were wounded when shots were fired from one or two cars.
Police were called to the intersection of 22nd and Fitzwater just before midnight when neighbors heard dozens of shots in rapid succession leaving residents like Leigh Schemanski startled.
"I was on the phone, and all of a sudden I hear pop-pop-pop-pop like a lot of them," she said.
Schemanski said she had never heard gunfire before, but had a pretty good idea of what happened.
Police said four men were at 21st and Fitzwater when they when the shooting began. They were chased by the gunmen to 22nd and Fitzwater where the gunfire continued.
Police say more than 40 shell casings from three weapons were littered across Fitzwater. When all the gun fire came to an end, a 28-year-old man was pronounced dead.
Three more people were taken to the hospital in stable condition.
"We don't know what the motive is or what transpired or what made the shooting happen tonight," said Philadelphia Police Captain George Fuchs, who added that police are reviewing surveillance video.

After that two other men were left in critical condition after police say they were shot in Oxford Circle and in Strawberry Mansion.
Just after 1 a.m. police responded to a shooting at a night club in Oxford Circle.
Authorities say a 31-year-old man was shot twice, once in the arm, and once in the stomach.
He would be taken to Aria-Torresdale hospital.
About 20 minutes later in the Stawberry Mansion section of the city.
They say a man was sitting inside his car when an unknown male approached his vehicle with a gun and shot him in the back.
He would be transported to Temple Hospital in critical condition, but has now been upgraded to stable.

Then just before 2 a.m. a man and a woman in their 40's were shot at James and Margaret Streets in Frankford. The man died, but the woman is in critical condition.
Police say a homeowner in his 60s shot them for hopping a fence to get to his property.
Officers took the him into custody, but it is not clear if he'll be charged.
Then hours later police responded to another fatal shooting on South 4th Street near Washington Avenue in Queen Village.
Authorities say this incident took place about 7:20 a.m. where an unidentified male was shot once.
Police say the man was found face down in a parking lot where he would be pronounced dead on the scene.
There has been no arrest made at this time, and a weapon has not been recovered.
