1 Dead, 6 Injured In Lincoln Drive Accident
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - Authorities say one person died and six others were injured in a multi-vehicle accident on the Lincoln Drive early Saturday morning.
The accident happened near Morris Street around just before 2:45 a.m. Saturday.
According to police, a 2001 Subaru Outback, driven by a 21-year-old man, lost control while trying to drive around a right bend in the southbound lane of Lincoln Drive at Morris Street. Officials say the rear right passenger was ejected and then the vehicle hit the guardrail.
Police say the Subaru hit a 2000 Nissan Maxima, driven by a 41-year-old woman, head on in the northbound lane. The Maxima was then hit in the rear by a 2000 Honda Civic, driven by a 40-year-old woman, that was also traveling in the northbound lane.
Police say four occupants from the Subaru suffered injuries. The 27-year-old rear right passenger was taken to Albert Einstein Medical Center where she succumbed to her injuries, the driver refused to be transported, the front seat passenger was taken to Temple University hospital in critical condition and the rear left passenger was taken by private vehicle to Albert Einstein Medical Center.
Authorities say the driver and passenger from the Maxima were both taken to Albert Einstein Medical Center with broken bones. They are listed in stable condition.
The driver of the Honda was transported to Temple University Hospital where she was treated and released.
Police continue to investigate the accident and say no charges have been filed.
