3rd Suspect Arrested In Temple U. Home Invasion
PHILADELPHIA (CBS/AP) — Philadelphia police say the investigation is ongoing after a third arrest connected to a home invasion in which four Temple University students were bound and robbed at an off-campus apartment earlier this week (see related story).
Authorities have released two of the suspects names, 18-year-old Malcolm Murray and 19-year-old Tyree Johnson. Capt. Roland Lee says the robbery may not have been an isolated incident.
It happened shortly before 7:30 p.m. Monday at a residence not far from the school's north Philadelphia campus. Police say the three suspects followed a female student home to her second-floor apartment.
Investigators say the men forced their way inside and duct-taped the woman and her three roommates before taking off with computer equipment, cell phones, credit cards and an unknown amount of cash.
The victims weren't hurt.
Murray and Johnson have been charged with aggravated assault, robbery, burglary, conspiracy, criminal trespass, theft, terroristic threats, simple assault, unlawful restraint, false imprisonment and related charges.
