PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – This weekend is the third annual Art in the Open event, taking place in Fairmount Park.
If you take a walk along the Schuylkill River this weekend, you'll see 21 artists working outside. Deenah Loeb, executive director of the City Parks Association, explains they're participating in Art in the Open.
"It's an event that celebrates the rich artistic tradition of Philadelphia and also the natural and open landscapes that we live in."
Stained glass artist Justin Tyner, one of the artists using nature as his studio this weekend, describes the scene. "(You) bring your studio set-up to the outside air to bring people out to watch you work."
And they're all making brand new works, according to Tyner.
"There's a final exhibition for the art that gets produced during the three days at the Seamen's Museum. In June, they will have an exhibition."
