$3,500 Reward Offered To Catch Queen Village Robber

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - Several South Philadelphia community organizations are offering a $3,500 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the suspect responsible for two early morning robberies this past June.
The attacks happened in the early morning hours in the heart of Queen Village. The first happened on June 16th just before 7:30. A man on a black bicycle attacked a woman walking in the 600 block of Catherine Street. The next day, at 6:30 a.m., he does it again. Police spokesman Ray Evers says leads have gone cold, despite video of the incidents.
"Nothing's really panned out, that's why we are using the reward to try to drum up some information. We're looking at if someone else didn't report a crime, to call us at the 3rd District Headquarters."
Jeff Rush is from the Queen Village Neighborhood Association, one of the groups donating to the reward.
"To attack women in a defenseless posture is beyond contempt. And we're not going to stand for it. We'll do whatever we have to do to support police."
Lauren Gemberling, a resident of Queen Village, says she never leaves home without her spray. "My boyfriend gave it to me as a precaution when I walk. When you spray it, it sprays green ink on the face and it lasts for several days."
She says it became a necessity after learning the suspect is still out there.
Bella Vista Townwatch, Queen Village Neighborhood Association, Headhouse District and Society Hill Civic Association are among the groups that raised the $3,500 reward.
