30th Street Station Reopens West Entrance, Just In Time For Thanksgiving Travel
By Pat Loeb
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - The west side of 30th Street Station re-opens this morning, after more than a year of renovations. The project was finished not a moment too soon.
"We are really excited about the fact that we were able to complete this project in time for the very busy Thanksgiving holiday."
Amtrak Spokesman Craig Schulz says more riders will pass through the station next week than any other time this year and now they will enjoy vastly improved access for pedestrians and cars, more parking, better lighting and a new ornamental gateway.
"Improvements all around for vehicles, pedestrians, passengers, community. It's a win-win for everyone."
The $30 million renovation is part of a master plan for the station, to integrate it better into the University City neighborhood.
