Multiple Train Cars Jump Tracks In Paulsboro, Near Site Of 2012 Derailment
PAULSBORO, NJ (CBS) -- A train derailed in Paulsboro, New Jersey late Tuesday morning.
It happened shortly after 10 a.m.
Chopper 3 was over the scene at Penn Line Road and Railroad Avenue.
Police say four train cars jumped the tracks inside of a Conrail yard. Officials say the cars were backing up at a slow rate when they jumped the track.
Authorities say there were no injuries or leaks.
Three of the cars were carrying non-hazardous material, while the other one was empty.
The scene of this derailment is right next to Paulsboro High School and about a half mile from the site of the 2012 Paulsboro derailment and chemical spill.
In that incident, seven cars derailed on a bridge over Mantua Creek.
It released thousands of gallons of vinyl chloride into the atmosphere.
The 2012 incident sickened about two dozens people and forced half of the town to evacuate for several days.
