3 On Your Side: Lottery Apps To Track Your Tickets

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- As Powerball fever heats up across the nation, most people will be checking and double checking their tickets after Wednesday night's big drawing. But not everybody. As 3 On Your Side Consumer Reporter Jim Donovan finds, many people hold winning tickets each year and fail to collect!
Believe it or not, every year about $2 billion dollars in lottery prizes go unclaimed. Many of those tickets are worth between $1 and $5.
But some people never realize that they may have a life-changing prize in their pocket. Roughly 114 prizes worth $1 million dollars or more went unclaimed in 2015 according to the developers of Lottolotto. Lottolotto is an app that tells you if you have a winning ticket -- big or small.
Another app to download, Lottery Hub. Lottery Hub is the official app for the Mega Millions and Powerball games.
Are you in an office pool? There's an app for that too. Lottery Pool Boss helps people keep track of who's in which pool and who's paid what. The free android app also displays winning numbers.
