PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - Father's Day is coming up this weekend. Have you picked out a card and gift yet? If not, 3 On Your Side Consumer Reporter Jim Donovan has some ideas for last minute shoppers.
According to the National Retail Federation, Americans will shell out on average $119 dollars to honor dear old dad this fathers day. Combined, shoppers are expected to spend a whopping 13 billion dollars on gifts.
$2.5 billion will be spent on special outings like sporting events & dinners, $1.7 billion will be shelled out on electronic gadgets, $1.8 billion will be spent to purchase clothing and another $1.8 billion on gift cards.
If you're still searching for the perfect gift Consumer Reports has a few ideas. If Dad is looking for a tablet, the $400 Samsung Galaxy Note 8 is recommended for its versatility. Or if Dad likes video games, Consumer Reports suggests the Sony Playstation Vita, which will let him stream content from the PlayStation 4 once it's released later this year.
