3 On Your Side: Direct TV New Rental Option

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- So do you enjoy watching movies, but prefer to watch them at home instead of heading to a theater? 3-On Your Side Consumer Reporter Jim Donovan tells you about the latest way for you to watch big screen hits in your living room a lot sooner.

If you want to be the first on your block to rent the latest big screen blockbuster, Direct TV is now promising to get it to you faster.

In the past you would have to wait four months after the big screen release to then be able to watch it in your home on Direct TV. The cost? Around $6, with plenty of selections to choose from. But now you can watch movies a whole lot faster, but it will cost you. Direct TV has now launched what it calls the Home Premier option in which movies are available two months after the big screen release, but the rental cost jumps to a whopping $30.

So far Warner Brothers, Sony, Universal and 20th Century Fox have signed on. You can expect a new movie to be released every two weeks. The first movie being made available through Direct TV's Home Premier option is Sony's "Just Go With It," a comedy starring Adam Sandler and Jennifer Aniston. You can rent it now.
