3 Males, 17-Year-Old Girl Arrested In Delaware Home Invasion
NEWARK, Del. (CBS) - Police in Delaware arrested four suspects, including a 17-year-old girl, in connection to an armed drug-related home invasion.
James Elliot, 19; James Zimkowski, 18; Joseph Murach, 22; and a 17-year-old female are all facing charges in connection to the February 15th incident.
The robbery happened at about 8 p.m. at an apartment in the 500 building of the University Courtyard Apartments.
The incident began when a resident at the apartment answered a knock at the door. Upon answering the door, he was confronted by three masked male suspects, one armed with a baseball bat and another armed with a handgun.
The victim was then struck with the bat and a struggle ensued with two of the suspects while the third suspect held the other five occupants of the apartment at gunpoint.
The suspects demanded cash and a safe from the victim.
During the struggle, the victim removed the mask of one of the suspects and recognized him as an acquaintance.
Following an investigation, detectives were able to identify and arrest the three male suspects, along with the 17-year-old, who was the get-away driver. Investigators recovered the weapons used in the robbery along with the stolen safe.
The victim was treated for a broken orbital socket at Christiana Hospital.
The investigation confirmed that illegal drug activity was conducted at the apartment and investigators believe the suspects were searching for drugs and/or drug proceeds.
All four suspects have been charged with Robbery 1st Degree, Assault 1st Degree, Possession of a Firearm During Commission of a Felony, 6 counts Aggravated Menacing and Wearing a Disguise During Commission of a Felony Conspiracy 2nd.
