Gunfire Leaves Three Dead, Several Injured In Philadelphia
PHILADELPHIA (CBS/AP ) - Another night of violence has left three men dead and several others hospitalized following shootings in areas of north and South Philadelphia.
Police said gunshots were reported in north Philadelphia at about 6:48 p.m. Saturday and officers found a 28-year-old man sitting behind the wheel of a minivan with multiple gunshot wounds to the head. He was taken to Temple University Hospital, where he was pronounced dead shortly after 7 p.m. Saturday.
Officers in south Philadelphia found a 37-year-old man mortally wounded in the 2700 block of Vare Avenue at 10:21 p.m. and a 22-year-old man discovered inside a house in the 1500 block of Federal Street, where he'd apparently run to elude the gunman, shortly after 2 a.m. Both also later died at hospitals.
Police said no suspects have been arrested in any of the cases.
Also under investigation are three shootings in North Philadelphia, in which four men were wounded. One was a robbery suspect who was shot by police after they say he aimed a gun at officers after they stopped the car in which he was riding. (see related story)
