Let's say goodbye to three of "Chip Kelly's players." This is best read while listening to this.
3. DeMarco Murray
Coming off his career-best season rushing for a league-high 1,845 yards with the Dallas Cowboys, Kelly signed Murray to a five-year deal worth $42 million ($21 million guaranteed). In 2015, Murray never got going with the Eagles, finishing with just 702 rushing yards and six rushing touchdowns in 15 games.
Murray's miserable season came to a head on December 8th, 2015 when a report circulated that the veteran running back expressed his frustrations in the offense to Eagles owner Jeffrey Lurie.
"I feel like I took a year off last year, so I am fresh,'' Murray told the Titans' website on Wednesday.
On Wednesday -- day one of NFL free-agency -- Murray and his lucrative contract was officially traded to the Tennessee Titans for a swap of 2016 fourth-round picks.
2. Byron Maxwell
One year ago today, the Eagles signed Maxwell to a six-year deal worth $63 million and $25 million guaranteed. Maxwell was ranked the top corner on last year's free-agent market, a position of need for the Eagles heading into 2015. While many realized immediately that Maxwell was likely overpaid, his performance on the field never came close to his contract, and his lackadaisical attitude didn't help either.
Maxwell finished 2015 with 10 pass deflections, two interceptions, and two forced fumbles in 14 games. Maxwell missed the final two games of the season due to a shoulder-injury, which almost squandered a trade to the Miami Dolphins. However, the trade became official on Wednesday, as the Eagles sent Maxwell, LB Kiko Alonso, and pick No. 13 overall to the Dolphins for pick No. 8 overall.
1. Kiko Alonso
Alonso missed the entire 2014 season with a knee-injury after an incredible 159 tackle rookie performance with the Buffalo Bills. Philly fans were fired up for the "Legend Of Kiko" when Kelly acquired the 25-year-old linebacker last Spring, along with his remaining rookie contract -- which had two-years for a total of less than $2 million remaining.
However, after recovering from injury Alonso re-injured his knee and never lived up to the hype. In just 11 games played, Alonso recorded just 43 tackles, one turnover (a Week 1 interception), and no sacks.
He was often see missing tackles and uncovering pass catchers. Alonso was traded with Maxwell to the Dolphins.
The Eagles have still not re-signed now free-agent safety Walter Thurmond, while running back Ryan Mathews is reportedly on the trading block. Both Thurmond and Mathews are two more of Kelly's guys.
