3 Bucks County Towns Chosen As Among Best In Country To Celebrate July 4th

By Brad Segall

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - If you're hanging around the area for the Fourth of July, a popular destination magazine has singled out three local towns as the best places in the country to celebrate the holiday.

Travel and Leisure -- which has an online travel guide and magazine -- has compiled a list of nearly two dozen locations for people to go to celebrate the birth of our country.

Three Bucks County towns are on the list. Newtown is at number 4, New Hope at number 6 and Doylestown at number 18. It's a boost for tourism officials who are always looking for ways to draw people to their locales.

"They were looking at things like main streets," says Paul Bencivengo, Marketing and Communications Director for Visit Bucks County, "and, you know, shopping and dining and really kind of that Americana and that's, you know, Newtown, Doylestown, New Hope all have that."

Newtown was given the nod for its First Fourth parade and fireworks, which are actually held on July 5th. New Hope was recognized for its history and Doylestown gets some press for its Old Fashioned Fourth of July celebration at Fonthill Castle.
