3 Arrested In Connection To SEPTA Bus Assault In Kingsessing Neighborhood
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - Philadelphia police arrested three male teenagers who reportedly assaulted a SEPTA bus driver Saturday afternoon, according to authorities.
A little before 2 p.m., police say three teens on a Route 52 bus assaulted the 45-year-old driver at 54th Street and Greenway Avenue.
Police say the victim told them the teenagers, two 17-year-olds and a 16-year-old, got on the bus at 52nd and Chestnut Streets. The victim told police they were rude and obnoxious, using profanity and obscene language.
Police say as the males were exiting the bus on Greenway Avenue, one of them grabbed the driver while he was operating the bus and pushed him onto the pavement. The teenagers then reportedly began to punch the driver in his face.
The suspects fled on foot southbound on Greenway Avenue. Police were called and located the three teenagers in the 5400 block of Paschall Avenue where they were taken into custody without incident.
The driver, who suffered facial lacerations and a broken nose, was treated at Mercy Hospital and later released.
