PHILADLEPHIA (CBS) – Philadelphia firefighters battled a massive fire that engulfed a warehouse early Wednesday morning.
The three-alarm fire started shortly before 1 a.m. inside a warehouse at B Street and Indiana Avenue in the city's Kensington section.
The first firefighters arriving on the scene encountered heavy smoke and fast-spreading flames coming from inside the warehouse.
Firefighters were initially not able to enter the warehouse due to multiple collapses inside the building. Firefighters attacked the fire from the outside on the ground and in the air on ladders.
Firefighters were able to get an upper hand on the fire and it was placed under control in about an hour.
Fire officials said there were no injuries to any firefighters or civilians.
Firefighters were able to control the fire and no damage was reported to any nearby homes and evacuations were not needed.
A small contingent of firefighters remained on the scene Wednesday morning to water down any potential hot spots.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
