26 People Arrested At Occupy National Gathering In Center City

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- 26 Occupy activists were arrested near 12th and Arch Streets in Center City on Sunday night as Occupy Philly made its way back in action for the approach of Independence Day.
According to police, all of them were expected to be released on Monday.
It was called Occupy National Gathering and it attracted Occupy members from across the country. Many were at Franklin Square on Monday for speeches and organizing activities, and some were just being released from Police Headquarters.
"They all got summary charges for obstructing the highway," said Julia Alfordf-Fowler, who is with Occupy. "I believe they also got disorderly conduct. They're saying they are holding people because of outstanding warrants."
But she added not one had any warrants against them as far as she knew.
"I had just walked up to the action," said Mike Pierce, who had just been released by police. "And we were streaming it for the live-stream, and they started arresting all the live-streamers, so we really weren't obstructing anything."
The organization planned to exercise it's right of Free Speech and Assembly in a variety of ways through the July 4th holiday.
